We were approached by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to create a series of Tides products for their Summer 2021 Keep it Weird event. Promoting the Ocean Twilight Zone and the creatures that inhabit it, the Keep it Weird campaign will run all summer in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
The team created three Tides drops including a sticker pack, t-shirt, and glow in the dark Nalgene water bottle. All the artwork was inspired by some of the most iconic and “weird” animals found 200 to 1,000 meters below the ocean surface. Using bold colors and glow in the dark materials we harnessed the overall feel of these creatures in the products. Released on both the Cape Clasp Tides website and the WHOI e-commerce store, both sites were sold out of product within 3 hours.
As is tradition with our Tides line, we don’t restock items once they sell out, but WHOI was able to confidently quadruple their original order for the water bottles to continue selling and promoting to their customers and guests.
This collaboration proved to be a huge success for both teams involved and generated thousands of likes, shares, and comments. The WHOI Keep it Weird campaign will continue to run through Summer 2021 and more information can be found here. Be sure to pick up your water bottle on their site and keep on keeping it weird.
