About Penikese Island
Located in Buzzards Bay along the Elizabeth Islands, Penikese Island is a remote bird sanctuary with a rich natural and cultural history. Today, Penikese Island School uses the island as a living classroom, immersing students in hands-on, nature-based educational experiences designed to foster curiosity, confidence, and connection with the natural world.
The flora and fauna featured in the Penikese Field Guide Collection are inspired by species visitors may encounter while exploring the island.
