Technology is an important component to safely sharing the shore with Cape Cod’s great white sharks, especially when it comes to be able to track the sharks in real time. To help keep the beaches safe and further great white shark research, we’re excited to announce that Cape Clasp is now the official sponsor of the Sharktivity app!

Our non-profit partner, Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, developed the Sharktivity app to track white shark sightings in the waters off the Cape and Islands. Individuals can report sightings directly in the app with important details, photos, and location.

This sighting information is incredibly important to improving public safety on the beaches of Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard. Officials are able to warn swimmers and boaters to exercise caution in areas near recent sightings and can close or evacuate nearby beaches. There are plenty of ways to stay shark smart and reduce the chance of coming face to face with a great white shark, but the risk is only at zero when you’re out of the water.

Download the Sharktivity app today to track the Cape’s great whites, report sightings, and watch live streams of AWSC’s shark research. Follow @Sharktivity on Twitter to stay up to date with sightings.
