Some say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but I think it’s the best meal of the day, and Haley agrees. She's pulled together her five favorite Cape Cod breakfast spots to visit in the summer.

Pie in the Sky Bakery and Cafe, Woods Hole

Pie in the Sky is open every day of the year, except Christmas, and sits a quick walk from the Martha’s Vineyard ferry terminal in Woods Hole. Its convenience factor isn’t the only reason why it’s so popular: the bakery makes some of the best pastries and baked goods on the Cape. Whether you’re in the mood for a filling breakfast sandwich, sweet danish, or a coffee to perk you up before a day of exploring, you’ll be happy you stopped by Pie in the Sky.

Picnic Box, Mashpee

Picnic Box in Mashpee may have a simple menu and low prices, but don’t let that fool you - it’s a must-try breakfast place. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is stellar. Picnic Box is conveniently located by the Mashpee Rotary, making it the perfect pit stop on the way to the beach.

Red Cottage Restaurant, Dennis

Red Cottage Restaurant in Dennis started in 1951 as a seafood restaurant and has evolved into a cute diner that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while preserving the look and feel of a 1950s diner. The restaurant has a huge menu (they have nine different types of eggs benedict), but if you’re a first-timer, don’t worry - they’ve pulled together their most popular dishes here). If you have an early morning sweet tooth, try the Cinnamon Bun French Toast. If savory is more your style, order the Lobster Benedict. Just make you sure you hit the ATM ahead of time - they’re a cash-only establishment.

hangar B eatery, Chatham

Any breakfast overlooking planes taking off and landing is usually a groggy, early morning snack while waiting to board your flight. But, hangar B eatery in Chatham is unlike any airport breakfast you’ve ever had. Situated next to the tarmac at Chatham Airport, the restaurant serves decadent breakfasts ranging from lemon ricotta pancakes to a heart breakfast sandwich served on a croissant. Voted the Best Brunch on Cape Cod by Boston Magazine in 2017, hangar B is sure to impress.

Corner Store, Chatham + Orleans

If you’re looking for the best breakfast burrito on Cape Cod, look no further than the Corner Store. With locations in Orleans and Chatham, the Corner Store is a breakfast staple on the Lower Cape. Make your own burrito with eggs, cheese, vegetables, and meat. And if you’re hungry after a long day at the beach, be sure to swing by again to try one of the Corner Store’s regular burritos - they’re just as good.
