For us, summer means heading down to Cape Cod and enjoying the beautiful weather while it lasts. Now that we have Fisher, we plan ahead to make sure he can join us on our summer adventures. To make it easy for you to plan your Cape vacations with your pup, we pulled together our five favorite dog-friendly beaches on Cape Cod.

Cape Cod National Seashore

The Cape Cod National Seashore allows leashed dogs on its beaches during the summer. The Seashore is made up of six beaches (Coast Guard, Nauset Light, Marconi, Head of the Meadow, Race Point, and Herring Cove) in Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown, giving you plenty of options to pick from for your next beach trip!

Sandy Neck, Barnstable

Sandy Neck welcomes (leashed) dogs all summer long, except for at Bodfish Beach. With miles of beach, hiking trails, and off-road driving, Sandy Neck introduces you to the different ecosystems of Cape Cod.

The Knob, Falmouth

One of our favorite beaches on Cape Cod is The Knob in Falmouth. If you’re looking for a beach to explore during sunset with your pup, this is the place for you. The Knob has a beautiful view of Buzzards Bay and is one of the best places to watch the sun set on Cape Cod.

Cahoon Hollow, Wellfleet

During the summer, leashed dogs are allowed in the sections of the beach at Cahoon Hollow that don’t have a lifeguard present. Cahoon Hollow is a beautiful beach and home to The Beachcomber, an infamous restaurant and bar that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

Nauset Outer Beach, Orleans

The Outer Beach in Orleans is made up of miles of pristine, remote beaches that are only accessible by permitted cars, trucks, and campers. If you’re lucky enough to head out to the Outer, there’s even more good news: Fido can join you, too! Just make sure to pack a leash and keep your pup away from any nesting birds.
